We offer several types of weaving for chairs. Star Weed, the lady of the shop, does the caning for chairs we receive. She does excellent work and charges accordingly. Star is a pretty fast worker and enjoys caning until she receives a chair that has an unusual seat or back shape or one which requires carriage width cane which is the narrowest of canes; almost as thin as knitting yarn. For these particular services, the price is higher than the usual cost of $2.00 per hole.

Now, when we say $2.00 per hole, we're talking about the holes around the perimeter of the the area to be woven, not the holes in the original caned seat to be replaced. I'm explaining this since folks have gasped when we say "per hole". They think we mean the holes in the weaving. Remember, $2.00 per hole around the rim of the seat/back or what ever area of the chair that needs to be replaced. If the part of the chair to be caned is not square, oval or rectangular, or is a weird shape, the cost can go up as much as $3.25 per hole or even higher, depending on what Star, the Coastal Empire Caner, thinks is fair to the customer and to her for doing the back breaking work. Just so you'll know, the caning will be done in a most professional manner even though Star may cuss and fuss while doing it. Some chairs have almost made her lose her religion,however, she has always completed the work and it's always been to the customer's satisfaction.

So, if you have chairs that need the cane replaced, bring them to us and we'll give you a fair estimate and go from there.

Some wicker can be mended, some cannot. Either weather has rotted the structure, or it's not worth the money it would take to restore. We recommend only working on solid, worthy pieces. Please send photos and we will try to give a realistic estimate.
