Staff & History

J. D. Weed & Co. was first established in Savannah in the year 1816 by Joseph D. Weed. He  moved down from Connecticut, and started a small hardware company that grew to  become one of the largest suppliers of hardware in the south. One hundred years later the hardware company met its demise by the mass marketing of Sears and Roebuck mail order catalog, the great depression and other family concerns.  J. D. Weed & Co was reestablished in 1960 by his grandson, also named Joseph D. Weed.  His dedication to detail and his love of the arts earned him one of the most impeccable reputations in the field. Since his death the business is run by his son  Arthur D. Weed and his small staff of highly trained and experienced personnel .Their connections with local artisans continue and they are proud to share their expertise with others. Below is a list of the staff and their links to their trade.
