The Flag Ship often had a talented sailor, or an on board artist. One who would paint and draw to keep a pictorial record of events and happenings, painted this early ship's portrait. This unsigned(some people say they see a signature) work is original and noted on the stretcher of the ship and its captain. The canvas has been stabilized but the paint has not been touched. There are a few losses of paint, which show in the pictures. This painting remains in its original frame, which is hard to find.
